Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg says she is living in a tent in California while she goes through month seven of mold detox, and she says she is staying there because she no longer feels safe sleeping indoors. On an Oct. 29 episode of her podcast, she said the setup is not temporary in the way most people would imagine: she showed what appeared to be a tan camping tent in her backyard and said it has become the only place she feels she can rest.

The timing matters because this is the latest update in a long-running health ordeal she has linked to mold exposure. McCarthy-Wahlberg said a doctor diagnosed her with Mycotoxin poisoning in December 2025, after she first noticed a recurring infected root canal that, in her words, blew up the left side of her face. She said the problems kept coming after that: constant chalazions on her eye, months of painful eye surgeries, severe skin rashes, food allergies, and a stretch when she could not eat anything and started to get SIBO.

She said the tent is covered with a rainproof layer, not because she is worried about California weather, but because she uses it to protect against chemtrails and sprinklers. McCarthy-Wahlberg said the arrangement grew out of fear, not convenience. “Because I am paranoid now about basically sleeping anywhere, I live in a tent,” she said, adding, “I’m not even joking.”

That paranoia is part of what makes this story more than an unusual lifestyle snapshot. She said her house was remediated for mold by a specialist for tens of thousands of dollars, then contractors had to rebuild it and she was told to get rid of her furniture and clothes. Even after that, she said she is too paranoid to live anywhere else than her tent, which shows how far the fallout has spread from a health problem into the way she lives day to day.

The wider picture is still unfinished. She and Donnie Wahlberg listed their Illinois home for $2.8 million in September, after owning the four-bedroom house for more than a decade, but McCarthy-Wahlberg did not give a date for when she expects to stop sleeping in the tent. For now, she says the mold detox is still underway, and the tent is where that journey has brought her.
