Nintendo Switch 2 Zelda Edition restock points to possible controller return

The Nintendo Store has restocked the Zelda Switch 2 console after it sat sold out for several weeks, and that has put the Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller back on shoppers’ radar. The controller is set for release on October 29, 2026, and the latest console return is the clearest sign yet that another inventory wave could follow.

That matters now because buyers watching the Nintendo Switch 2 Zelda Edition line are trying to figure out what may show up first and where. The controller costs $99.99, while a $109.99 version includes a stand, and the Nintendo Store is the only place to get that version with the accompanying display stand.

Matt Swider has been steering followers toward restock alerts, telling them, “Want the Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Pro Controller? Drop your email for restock alerts before it sells out.” He says The Shortcut will send an alert on X as soon as stock appears, which is why so many shoppers are treating the Nintendo Store’s console refill as a clue, not a guarantee.

The reason the guesswork persists is simple: the controller is still sold out, even after the console came back. Retailers often hold back units for launch day so there is stock for in-store shoppers and people who missed pre-orders, and cancellations can also free up more inventory. That leaves room for a return on launch day, but not enough to say where or how much stock will land.

Walmart is one retailer to watch because it is the largest retailer in the US and often gets the most stock for launch, but that does not mean the controller is confirmed there. The more likely path is a limited restock somewhere in the mix around October 29, 2026, with the Nintendo Store still the best place to watch if the controller follows the console back into inventory.
