Amazon.com has already turned on its October Prime Day deals one day before the sale begins tomorrow, putting markdowns on Apple, Ugg, Levi's, Hanes, iRobot, Ring and Ninja products in shoppers' carts now. The early discounts include a Hanes EcoSmart Hooded Sweatshirt for $10, an iRobot Roomba 115X Robot Vacuum & Mop for $200 and a Ring Battery Doorbell + Indoor Cam Plus Bundle for $60.

That matters because the sale window is not the only chance to buy, and some of the strongest prices are already live before October Prime Day officially opens. The Hanes sweatshirt is down from $27, a 65% cut; the iRobot machine falls from $470, nearly 60% off; and Levi's Women's Classic Straight Jeans are marked to $23 from $60, a drop of over 60%. For shoppers watching clothing and household gear, waiting does not necessarily improve the deal.

Other live offers sharpen that point. A Ninja Flip Air Fryer and Toaster Oven Combo is selling for $150 instead of $250, while new Prime Day deals put Apple AirPods Pro 3 at $179 from $249, a Ninja NeverDull Knife 10-Piece Set at $200 from $250, an Ugg Fleece Throw Blanket at $49 from $72 and an Apple Watch Smartwatch at $199 from $249. The mix shows Amazon.com is using the pre-sale period to push premium brands and popular home items before the main event starts.

But the best price is not always the best time to buy. High-end electronics typically get their biggest markdowns later during Cyber Monday, and bigger home appliances usually see their deepest discounts on Black Friday. Toys also tend to be better buys on Black Friday, aside from seasonal items like Lego advent calendars. That makes today's discounts strong for immediate needs, but not always the ceiling for every category.

So the practical read is simple: buy the live deals now if they fit, especially on apparel, small household items and accessories, and hold out if you're chasing the deepest cut on electronics or larger appliances. Amazon's October Prime Day starts tomorrow, but the smartest shopping may already be happening before it opens.
