The Home Depot is bringing out its first-ever Holiday Sweater on Oct. 1, a limited-edition item priced at $29.99 and packed with more than $150 in tools and accessories. The run starts at 11 a.m. ET, and shoppers will get a second chance on Oct. 15, though only one sweater can be bought per customer.

That is the kind of launch that turns a seasonal novelty into a quick-moving shopping event. The sweater is being sold through in unisex sizes XS to XXL, putting a hard clock on a product that is meant to feel collectible as much as wearable.

Aubrey Horowitz said the 2026 holiday collection is built to make a big impact at every price point, and the sweater fits that pitch cleanly. The company is trying to marry the joke of a novelty holiday layer with the function of its orange apron, then backing it with a stated value gap that is hard to ignore.

But the easy part ends there. The sweater is available only in limited quantities, and customers have to compete for it in two narrow sale windows. That makes the item feel more like a timed release than a regular holiday purchase, even as it is marketed as a practical seasonal buy.

The sweater is only one piece of The Home Depot's larger holiday push. Holiday decor starts rolling out in stores nationwide the week of Oct. 5, and the company says gift savings will begin on Oct. 29 and continue through the season, while fresh cut trees arrive in November.

The broader collection also includes holiday buckets, Hubspace app integration for displays, and artificial trees such as the Grand Duchess lineup with memory wire and Quick Set® technology. Still, the sweater is the item most likely to draw the quickest attention because it is first-ever, limited-edition and attached to a price that looks low until the value statement is read alongside it.

For shoppers, the next date that matters is Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. ET, followed by the Oct. 15 restock chance. After that, the only certainty is scarcity.
