Samsung expanded Audio Eraser on the Galaxy S26 series so it now works in third-party apps, turning a tool that used to live inside Samsung’s own software into something more useful on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. In a hands-on test at the Samsung Galaxy S26 series unveiling, Tom saw it strip crowd cheers and chants from a soccer match demo so only the commentator came through.
That is the kind of change that gets attention because Audio Eraser has been around in Samsung Galaxy smartphones for several years, but until now it was mostly confined to Gallery and Voice Recorder. Samsung is pitching Instagram, YouTube and Netflix as the main examples of the wider support, while Tom found it working in Prime Video and Tubi during about five minutes with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The timing matters because Samsung is also trying to sell the new phones on AI, even as the lineup looks spec-wise a lot like its S25 counterpart. The company has been pushing AI features for ages, but Tom is not sold on them, and the pitch lands differently when the hardware itself does not appear dramatically changed. He said his Galaxy S24 Ultra made him curious about Android again, which helps explain why a cleaner audio tool feels more tangible than another abstract feature list.
That contrast is the story here: Audio Eraser is not new, but Samsung has finally widened where it can be used, and that makes it more than a demo trick. The live soccer-match example showed the feature can pull away background noise in a way that is easy to understand, but Samsung has not spelled out how broadly or consistently the third-party support reaches beyond the apps it named. For now, the upgrade looks real, useful and a little more grounded than the rest of the pitch around the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
