Amazon customers who say they were denied, delayed or wrongly charged on returned products now have a deadline to act. Claim forms for part of a $309.5 million class-action settlement must be submitted online or postmarked by Dec. 1, 2026.
The money is for customers who initiated a return or refund for a physical product between Sept. 5, 2017, and Feb. 12, 2026, and did not receive a refund, got the wrong amount or were charged again after the return. Some Amazon settlement payments were issued automatically, but other customers still need to file a claim through ReturnSettlement.com.
The settlement grew out of a 2023 class action that accused Amazon of failing to properly process refunds for returned products for nearly nine years. The lawsuit said Amazon promised “free, no hassle returns” but often did not issue refunds or re-charged customers who had followed the company’s refund and exchange policies. It also alleged that Amazon sometimes said the return had not been received, even when the product had been sent back.
That is the friction point in the case: Amazon denied any wrongdoing while agreeing to pay customers and change some of its return and refund operations for up to two years. As part of the deal, the company agreed to monitor return processing times and notify customers when refunds are approved or denied.
The broader settlement topped $1 billion, including roughly $600 million in refunds that Amazon has already issued. No average payment has been reported, and each payout will depend on the amount of unpaid, late or reversed refunds tied to a claim. Claimants must provide information about the order in question and, if known, the reason the refund was rejected. Additional information or documentation may be required.
For customers who want to check whether they qualify, the claim form is available on ReturnSettlement.com. Those who need help can call 888-553-4246 or send mail to Amazon Return Policy Litigation, Attn: Claim Request, PO Box 59, East Brunswick, NJ 08816-9998. A final settlement court hearing is scheduled for March 16, 2027, but for most eligible customers the immediate step is much simpler: file before the December deadline or miss the chance to be paid.
