Warner Bros has pushed the untitled Chris Columbus-directed Gremlins movie from November 19, 2027 to October 6, 2028, moving the third Gremlins feature nearly 11 months later and into a different fall launch window.
The shift puts the film squarely back in the conversation now because the release date is the news: Columbus’s project had been one of the studio’s more visible long-range titles, and this move tells audiences when the next Gremlins feature is actually expected to arrive. The movie has a current draft from Hannah Marks, off a screenplay by Columbus, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, with Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario producing for Amblin Entertainment alongside 26th Street Pictures’ Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe. Steven Spielberg is executive producing with Maiden Voyage’s Eleanor Columbus, and Joe Dante directed the first two Gremlins movies.
Warner Bros said it had good luck in the first weekend of October with Joker, which helps explain why the studio may have preferred the new date. The company also said the release changes were unrelated to its pending marriage with Paramount, even though the Gremlins move landed in a slate shuffle that also affected a Paramount-facing date. On the 2027 date, the Gremlins movie was not up against any Paramount titles, and it is not on the new weekend either, so the delay does not appear to be about clearing that specific lane.
What Warner Bros has not said is why this Gremlins feature needed nearly a full-year delay at all. For now, the clean answer is simple: Gremlins 3 is set for October 6, 2028, and that is the date that matters.
