Starz is ending P-Valley with its upcoming third season, and it is setting the farewell run in motion on December 4 with two back-to-back episodes. The season will run for nine episodes, closing the door on a series that helped turn Katori Hall’s stage story into television.
Hall framed the decision as an ending that belongs to the people who built it. “There comes a moment when every stripper must hang up her heels,” she said, adding that 17 years into this dance, that time had come. The new season keeps the story centered in Chucalissa, where a newly opened Promised Land Casino is flooding the town with scrilla. Uncle Clifford is trying to expand her empire in The Pynk, while Roulette breaks the club’s cardinal rule to build hers. Lil’ Murda’s gang ties threaten to clip his wings, and Keyshawn is fighting to break free and take flight.
That ending lands with extra weight because Hall is closing the series on her own terms, even after the long gap since Season 2. She said she began writing the story in 2009 from the kitchen table of her little apartment in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC, and the show that grew from that work has now reached the point where Hall says she wants to give fans the farewell they deserve. The teaser trailer adds another signpost, using the new single Homegrown from Lil’ Murda to signal that the final stretch will keep the series rooted in the characters and the world that made it distinct.
