Sony packed two State of Play presentations into Thursday, and the result was a burst of Sony Games news that reached from new release dates to fresh looks at upcoming projects. Among the biggest markers were dates for Until Dawn 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, while Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie opened the show with a nighttime city-street scene.

That opening clip mattered because it signaled how broad the night would be. Sony used the double header to move between games and film, and then kept adding concrete milestones: Marvel's Wolverine is coming to PS5 on September 15, the Resident Evil movie hits theaters on September 18, Ghost of Yōtei's Most Wanted mode arrives on October 1, and the PlayStation 1 set goes on sale the same day.

From there, the schedule filled out fast. Crimson Desert is getting Charting the Unknown on October 15, Final Fantasy Resonance lands on October 22 and has a demo out today, Hunter's Moon arrives on October 26, Metro 2039 is due on February 4 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and Gundam Rogue Orbit follows on March 5 for PS5, Steam and Xbox Series X/S. Sony also showed fresh looks at Ghost of Yōtei's upcoming survival mode and story expansion, announced Maneater 2, and confirmed Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance for sometime next year.

And yet for all that activity, the night never quite turned into the kind of seismic event that rewrites the calendar. The double presentation still delivered several release dates and new reveals, but the biggest value was in accumulation rather than shock: a crowded slate, a few clear countdowns, and enough to keep Sony Games in focus for months. The unresolved point now is less what was announced than how quickly those dates start arriving, beginning with the October run and the February and March releases that follow.

Adding to that stack, Lego revealed a brick-building set for the PlayStation 1, another reminder that Sony used Thursday to cover both the immediate pipeline and the brand’s older hardware history. The event’s shape was simple even if its impact was mixed: two State of Play presentations, a string of dates, and a steady feed of updates that gave fans plenty to mark on the calendar without delivering a single overwhelming surprise.
