Reports of the Verizon outages began around 3:40 p.m. EDT Thursday, according to Downdetector, and they were concentrated in Tulsa, Little Rock and nearby areas. By later in the day, Verizon appeared to be working normally again for some users, but the reason for the disruption had not been identified.
The complaints pointed to a broad but uneven problem. Some users in Oklahoma and Arkansas said they had no service at all, while others said their devices could not connect normally and instead switched to SOS mode. That mix of symptoms fit a wireless interruption affecting some customers rather than a complete shutdown of the network.
Verizon Support acknowledged the issue in a post on X, saying it was aware of a wireless service interruption and that its engineers were engaged. The company also apologized for the inconvenience, but it did not say what caused the outage or give a timetable for full restoration.
That leaves the key question open for customers who spent part of Thursday without a reliable signal: how long will the service stay stable once it comes back. For now, the only firm answer is that the outage reports came first, the repairs followed, and the cause remained unknown.
