Netflix has renewed The Gentlemen for Season 3 before Season 2 has even premiered, and Theo James says the next chapter is moving so fast that filming should begin “very, very soon” and “almost imminently.”

That timing is why the show is drawing attention now. The Gentlemen Season 2 is already set to put Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass back at the center of the story, with Theo James and Kaya Scodelario leading a cast that also brings back Ray Winstone, Giancarlo Esposito, Vinnie Jones, Daniel Ings and Joely Richardson. The new season also adds Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Michele Morrone, Sergio Castellitto, Amra Mallassi, Tyler Conti and Chris Eubank Jr., while a trailer shows Eddie and Susie pushing their cannabis operations outside the UK and into the orbit of international power players.

The renewal is notable because it landed before Season 2 had a chance to prove itself on screen. In practical terms, that gives the series a rare head start: a third season is already on the books while the second is still waiting to arrive. James said the plan is not just to continue, but to broaden the show’s scope again, describing Season 3 as one that will be “expanding the world even more” with new locations and characters, and promising that Eddie will go down an even darker path.

There is a catch inside that momentum. Guy Ritchie is not operating with a blank calendar, and he is currently shooting Young Sherlock Holmes Season 2, working on the upcoming film Wife & Dog, and finishing Viva La Madness in post-production. Even so, James said The Gentlemen remains a priority and that Season 3 is moving quickly, which suggests the franchise is being kept firmly in play even as other projects stack up around it.

For viewers, the immediate milestone is still Season 2, which is the next chapter to land and the one that will set up the new rift between Eddie and Susie’s father Bobby as his increasingly unsound decisions put the criminal empire at risk. But the bigger takeaway is already clear: Netflix is treating The Gentlemen as a continuing property, not a one-off hit, and James’ update points to a third season that could arrive sooner than expected once the current run is in motion. The Gentlemen Season 2 lands on 3 September as the conversation around what comes after it only gets louder.
