Authorities in St. Kitts and Nevis said on June 1 that a search team had found dead after the cruise ship visitor vanished days earlier on Mount Liamuiga. He was 33.

Zyuan was last seen on the hiking trail around 10 a.m. local time on May 27, and police said he later called emergency services at about 2 p.m. to report that he was lost in the Mount Liamuiga Mountains. Communication was cut off after that.

The discovery brought a grim end to a multi-day search on Saint Kitts, where rescue crews and police had been working through difficult terrain to find him. said Zyuan was a company employee and thanked local teams for their efforts over the past several days.

The mountain trail itself helps explain why the search became so difficult. Mount Liamuiga is a dormant stratovolcano with a peak of 3,793 feet, and hiking guides describe the route as more of a jungle climb than a hike, with muddy, uneven ground that is easy to lose and steep sections where hikers must use slippery roots like a makeshift ladder.

Police did not give a cause of death and said detailed information was not yet available. The also urged the public to refrain from speculation and rely only on official sources as the investigation into the circumstances continued.

For Zyuan, the unanswered question is now the only one that matters: what happened after he called for help on May 27? Authorities have confirmed his death, but the circumstances of it remain open.
