Arsenal have opened talks with Leicester City over Jeremy Monga, the 16-year-old winger who has already forced his way into senior football and is now at the centre of a summer move. The teenager, who made his Premier League debut at 15, is being tracked by several clubs, but Arsenal have moved first by starting discussions with Leicester.
The interest has gathered pace because Monga is not a prospect waiting for a future. This season he has played more than 1,000 minutes of senior football in all competitions, scoring once and setting up two goals in 30 appearances. He is already known as a both-footed winger who usually operates on the right but can shift across the front line or into the No10 role, a profile that has made him one of the more closely watched teenagers in the English game.
Monga first broke through during the 2024-25 season when he came on as a 15-year-old in Leicester's 3-0 defeat to Newcastle at the King Power Stadium. At the time, he became the second youngest player to appear in the Premier League, behind Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri. Ruud van Nistelrooy was in charge in April 2025 and made clear he liked what he had seen, saying Monga showed glimpses of his qualities, had pace, was a fantastic talent and deserved more minutes.
That background helps explain why Arsenal are not the only club looking. Monga has been described as a natural trickster with speed and silkiness on the ball, and he has also drawn comparisons with England U16 team-mate Max Dowman and Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku. For Arsenal, the appeal is obvious: Mikel Arteta is reported to have long admired him, and the club have now taken the next step by opening talks rather than simply monitoring him.
But there is a complication that could shape the deal as much as the interest itself. Monga has signed a professional contract with Leicester that takes effect when he turns 17 in July, and Leicester's relegation to League One has only strengthened expectations that he will leave in the summer window. That means any move may still require a fee to be settled between the clubs, or a tribunal to decide it if no agreement is reached.
The number being discussed is understood to sit in the region of £10million-£15million, a figure that reflects both his age and the amount of senior football he has already played. Reports have even suggested Arsenal have won the race for his signature, but until Leicester and Arsenal settle the price, the story remains unfinished. The talks are open; the outcome is not.
