The Ravens are signing Kedon Slovis to their active roster off the Packers’ practice squad, adding a quarterback before Week 9’s game on Thursday. Tom Pelissero reported the move as Baltimore reshuffled its depth chart.
The addition matters because the Ravens are short on healthy quarterbacks right now. After injuries to Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, the room has been reduced to Joe Fagnano, Austin Reed and Slovis for Thursday.
Slovis, 25, arrives with a route that has already taken him through several teams. Following the 2024 NFL Draft, he signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of BYU, then was among their final roster cuts and spent the season on Houston’s practice squad. He later re-signed with the Texans on a futures deal in 2025, was waived at roster cutdown, and soon after landed with the Cardinals.
That history is why this move stands out. In 2025, Slovis appeared in two games for the Cardinals and completed one of his two passes for -2 yards, a thin resume for a player being added to the active roster in a hurry. Even so, Baltimore is turning to him now because the need is immediate and the roster spot has opened up inside a quarterback room that suddenly needs another body.
What remains unclear is whether Slovis will be active for Thursday or simply provide insurance behind the current group. The Ravens made the move because the week left them no better option, and that makes his next step the one worth watching.
