The Delaware Department of Elections issued a voting alert on October 30, 2026, giving registered voters the basic instructions they will need to cast ballots on General Election Day, November 3. Polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The timing matters because Early Voting for the 2026 General Election was set to end on Sunday, November 1, at 7:00 p.m., leaving only a short stretch before Election Day for voters to check where they are assigned and whether their registration is current. Cathleen Hartsky-Carter, the Community Relations Officer for the Delaware Department of Elections, said the alert was being issued as Early Voting was concluding so voters would have the information they need for Tuesday.
Delaware registered voters must vote at the polling place assigned to the election district where they live, and the state says they can confirm that location by entering a street address at de.gov/voteplaces or through the voter portal at ivote.de.gov. The same portal can be used to check voter registration, while de.gov/samplegis lets voters view the candidates on their ballot and see a sample ballot before they go.
The alert also points to the part of the process that can slow a line at check-in. Election officers will ask voters to show identification under Delaware Code, but the notice does not spell out every acceptable form in the text released with the alert. If a voter does not present identification, officers will verify the person’s registration information, and once that registration is confirmed, the voter will be allowed to vote after completing an Affidavit of Affirmation of Voter Identity.
That leaves one thing voters should not wait on: checking the details before they leave home. Any Delaware resident who registered by the October 10 deadline may vote regardless of party affiliation, and more information about the 2026 General Election is available at de.gov/gen.
