West Royalton Road remained closed Tuesday morning in Broadview Heights after a house fire Monday evening in the 2100 block, leaving drivers to work around a stretch of road that was still blocked the next day. The closure was in place between Scottsdale Drive and Oakwood Drive after multiple crews responded to the home around 8 p.m. Monday.
The detour routes pointed traffic away from the scene and onto SR 94, with drivers told to use Royalwood Road to Broadview Road, or SR 94 to Akins Road to Broadview Road, to get around the closure. That made the shutdown more than a short-lived response to the fire; it remained an active disruption Tuesday morning, with no reopening time announced.
That missing detail is what leaves the situation unsettled. West Royalton Road was still closed after the Monday evening fire, but there was no word Tuesday morning on when the road would reopen. 19 News said it reached out to the Broadview Heights Fire Department for more information, and updates were expected later as the response continued.
