Mckenna Grace has turned the press tour for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping into a rolling tribute to the franchise’s past, stepping out in looks that echo Jennifer Lawrence and other familiar Hunger Games images. The tribute run began with the white wedding dress Lawrence wore in Catching Fire, and it has continued through appearances that nodded to Rachel Zegler, Amandla Stenberg’s Rue and Jena Malone.

That is why fans are searching now: the prequel’s worldwide publicity push is underway, and Grace has made fashion part of the story. At the 6th Annual Academy Gala, she paid homage to Lawrence. At a London screening, she referenced Zegler from Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. At a fan screening, she looked back to Malone, and on the Today Show she paid tribute to Rue. Each stop added another layer to a tour built around the image memory of the series.

Grace said on Instagram that she was “such a massive fan” of the franchise and that recreating the white dress look was special to her. She thanked the team that helped her get ready and singled out Molly Dickson for helping bring her “fangirl dreams to life” for the press tour. The dress itself was meant to evoke Katniss, and Grace said she wanted to pay homage to her because the look is iconic.

But she also made clear that the symbolism mattered more than the recreation. Grace said the meaning of Katniss’s wedding dress was not lost on her, explaining that the costume starts as something meant to turn Katniss into a spectacle and becomes something powerful when she and Cinna transform it. She tied that idea to Maysilee’s refusal to let the Capitol strip away her humanity, saying one of the things she loves most about The Hunger Games is how the characters fight to hold onto who they are even when others try to define them.

The white dress was only the opening note. Grace also paid homage to Katniss Everdeen with a feather dress and later with a fiery look that echoed the girl on fire, extending the tribute beyond one outfit into a full press-tour language. She said the costumes alone carry deep meaning and storytelling, and that the night spent celebrating the wardrobe of the films left her still pinching herself. For now, the tour has become a visual bridge between The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and the franchise images that still define it.
