El Komander has confirmed the death of his baby son, José Eliseo Ríos Ávila, and his team has canceled a scheduled performance in Hidalgo, Nuevo León. The announcement came through his social media accounts, where Alfredo Ríos shared the loss with his followers and pulled back from the stage at the same time.
The cancellation was set for Saturday, October 31, and his representatives asked for understanding and respect so Ríos could stay with his family and grieve away from public exposure. That is the immediate reason the name El Komander is drawing attention now: a private loss has already changed his public schedule.
Ríos, who is originally from Culiacán, Sinaloa, is one of the best-known exponents of Movimiento Alterado, and his solo career took off in 2009 with El Katch. He later became widely known for songs such as Soy de Rancho, Cuernito Armani and Malditas Ganas, while building a large audience of more than 16 million followers on Facebook and nearly three million on Instagram.
In his farewell message, he posted a photograph of himself holding the baby and later shared additional images in honor of his son, including white balloons rising into the sky. He wrote, “Dios te recoja, chaparrito, te amamos mucho. Te amamos, mijo. Todos. Gracias por todo”, a line that carried the weight of a family speaking publicly while keeping the most painful detail to itself.
No circumstances of José Eliseo Ríos Ávila’s death were disclosed, and no cause was provided. His team issued condolences and solidarity, but the silence around how the child died leaves the family’s announcement as a statement of loss rather than explanation. For now, the confirmed next step is simple: the show is off, and El Komander is staying with his family.
