Sir Tom Jones has postponed two California concerts after coming down with a bad case of the flu, pushing back his Monday show in Los Angeles and Tuesday's concert in San Diego. He said he was following doctor's advice and was “truly sorry” for the disruption.

The change comes just hours before he was due to perform at the Greek Theatre, a last-minute shift that will affect ticket holders in both cities. The San Diego concert is now set for 3 November at The Rady Shell, at Jacobs Park, while the Los Angeles show has been moved to 4 November.

Jones said on Instagram that he had already completed 20 shows and performed for audiences across the USA before the illness forced the schedule change. All tickets for the original dates will remain valid, and anyone unable to make the new dates can seek a refund through the original point of purchase.

The cancellation cuts across the middle of his Come Gather Round world tour, but the message was not one of abandonment. Jones said he looked forward to seeing fans soon, even as the flu brought a brief halt to a run that had taken him from show to show across the USA.

That is what makes the move sharper than a routine reschedule. He had been pressing through the tour and still felt well enough to keep going until the flu worsened, which is why the doctor’s advice mattered and why the Los Angeles and San Diego dates had to move together. For fans, the next stop is already fixed on the calendar: 3 November in San Diego and 4 November in Los Angeles.
