An 11-year-old was found dead inside a Blue Ash home last week after officers and the fire department were called to Belleview Avenue around 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 23. The child was discovered during a well-being check, and a woman who was also inside the home was taken to the hospital.

That discovery has made the case the focus of an active coroner's review in Blue Ash, where the cause of the child's death has not yet been determined. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office is now working to establish what happened inside the home.

The call to Belleview Avenue came with no public explanation for why officers and firefighters were sent there, and that remains one of the unanswered pieces of the case. What is known is that the check turned up a child dead in the home and a second person needing hospital care.

For now, the central fact is the one that changed everything: an 11-year-old is dead, the reason is still not known, and the coroner’s office is still working through the case. Until that finding is complete, Blue Ash is left with a death that began as a welfare check and ended in a question mark.
