Wladimir Klitschko has asked a Los Angeles County probate court for permission to seek law enforcement help over Hayden Panettiere's property, saying some of her possessions may already be out of reach. In a new supplement to an earlier petition, he says items believed to have been misappropriated could be sold, transferred or otherwise rendered unrecoverable.
The filing puts Kaya Klitschko at the center of the dispute. Klitschko says the loss of Panettiere's property would cause a direct financial detriment to Kaya, and he is asking the court to let him request and authorize a law enforcement investigation into the recovery of Hayden's property believed to have been misappropriated.
The new request builds on a petition Klitschko filed in September, when he sought to be made Kaya's temporary guardian. Kaya was welcomed in 2014, and the earlier filing also raised concerns about preserving Panettiere's estate. The latest supplement goes further by tying those concerns to alleged missing property and the possibility that it may never be recovered.
Klitschko believes someone outside Panettiere's family sold some of her possessions to a pawn shop, including jewelry and other items. The shop has declined to disclose specific item information unless contacted by law enforcement, a response that leaves the scope of the missing property unclear and adds pressure to the request now before the court.
The filing lands as Panettiere's death remains part of the wider backdrop to the case. She was found unresponsive at a South Carolina apartment in August, and the Greenville County Coroner's Office said she died from an accidental overdose of drugs including fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine. With the probate court now being asked to open the door to a law enforcement investigation, the next key step is whether the court gives Klitschko that authority.
