Borderlands 4 is getting Loveless the Hacker on September 10, when the all-new Vault Hunter arrives as paid DLC with a kit built around Corrosive and Radiation damage. Game Designer Ryan Bailey shaped her Action Skills and Trait, giving the character a hard-edged combat style that can hit fast, vanish, and hit again.
The reveal landed in the latest Gearbox DevCast, where Andrew Reiner and April Johnson spoke with Bailey in a Loveless Spotlight. That matters because Loveless is not just another damage dealer: she is described as an ex-Anshin hacker-turned-assassin whose two minds, plus a digital virus of her own creation, work together to drive synchronized lethal skills.
Her three skill trees point in different directions without losing that central identity. One path leans into fast aggression with Plague Star shuriken that slice through mobs while spreading Contagion. Another turns on deception, using Visual Paradox Nexus to cloak Loveless and leave a decoy behind. A third brings in the Malignant Construct, while her symbiote Wyrm companion adds tail whips and toxic breath. The result is a character designed to move constantly, punish groups, and change position before enemies can answer.
That split between brute force and misdirection is the sharpest part of the design. Loveless is framed as a lethal lifeform built for aggression, but part of her kit depends on disappearing, misleading targets, and making them chase the wrong body. Even her signature weapon set, the Techno-Kagi claws, nods to that duality: the claws are meant for close-range violence, while the name plays on the tekko-kagi weapons of feudal Japan.
Bailey also explained how Loveless’ Action Skills are meant to cycle. They come with low-cooldown power spikes called Functions and high-impact finishers called Executables, so players can keep pressure on the field while saving bigger hits for the right moment. Her trait, RAM, adds another layer: the bar fills as she scores Critical Hits or inflicts Status Effects, and when it is full her next melee attack becomes Empowered, spending the whole bar in an explosive finisher.
Gearbox is pairing that character launch with a wider content drop. Version 1.10 will also bring Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort and Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows, both available for individual purchase. The new Loveless Character Short, Uncontainable, folds that same split identity into a violent dive into the digiverse in pursuit of precious Vault data, reinforcing that this is a story about a hunter who cannot fully separate herself from the thing inside her.
For players, the immediate question is not whether Loveless is flashy. It is whether her mix of stealth, summoned pressure, and melee payoff will make her a faster, meaner kind of Vault Hunter than the rest of the roster. The full list of her abilities across all three skill trees is already pointed to on the Loveless Vault Hunter page, and September 10 is when those numbers stop being theory and become the next build to chase.
