The CW has pulled its planned broadcasts of Miss USA and Miss Teen USA just a week before the pageants were set to air, sending both events back to streaming on Queen Beauty Network. The network said it made the decision after careful consideration and conversations with the Miss USA Organization.
The missed telecast lands exactly when readers are searching for Miss USA 2026 because the pageants were supposed to air Wednesday, Aug. 26 and Thursday, Aug. 27, after The CW had already skipped them in 2025. Queen Beauty Network will stream both pageants instead, turning what had been billed as a return to broadcast TV into another online-only outing.
That shift matters because The CW and Miss USA had struck a three-year deal in 2024, and the pageants had aired on the network in 2023. This year, the arrangement did not hold. The Miss USA Organization said it identified a contractual issue with its production arrangements two weeks ago and could not reach mutually agreeable terms for this year's event. It said it remained open to working with The CW in the future.
What neither side has spelled out is why the deal broke down so late. In practical terms, a contractual issue can mean the parties no longer agree on the terms needed to produce and deliver a live broadcast on schedule, and the clock matters because a live pageant cannot wait for open-ended negotiations. The Miss USA Organization said its team tried to find a way to keep the broadcast on The CW, but the necessary time frame closed before terms could be settled.
The franchise has already been through a turbulent stretch. The Miss Universe Organization renegotiated the franchise with Thom Brodeur last year under a ten-year deal, after Noelia Voigt and UmaSofia Srivastava relinquished their titles during Laylah Rose's tenure. Voigt accused Rose of a toxic workplace culture, and the Miss USA Organization ousted Brittany Boltinhouse from her title this year. Brodeur said the organization does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia or language that strips any person of dignity.
For now, the answer is simple: Miss USA 2026 will not air on The CW as planned. It will stream on Queen Beauty Network, while the unresolved contractual dispute leaves the bigger question hanging over the franchise — whether the pageants and the network can still make a live return work at all.
