Salesforce surged 14% in Thursday morning trading to $234.90 after the company reported fiscal second-quarter revenue of $11.35 billion and raised its full-year outlook, giving investors a reason to buy back into CRM after a bruising year. The move came as Salesforce also unveiled Claudeforce, a plugin with 37 prebuilt sales skills, and said open beta is expected in September.

The stock reaction mattered because Salesforce had been down 22% for the year through Wednesday’s close, making the rebound one of the sharper single-day resets in enterprise software. By late morning, IGV was up 3%, QQQ rose 0.8%, ServiceNow climbed 5%, and Adobe added 3%, while Palantir slipped 0.2%. The market was not just rewarding one company’s quarter; it was re-rating a corner of software that has been lagging broader AI enthusiasm.

Salesforce’s numbers gave the rally its fuel. Revenue rose 11% from a year earlier, current remaining performance obligation reached $33.5 billion, and management lifted full-year FY27 revenue guidance by $200 million to a range of $46.1 billion to $46.4 billion. The company also guided fiscal third-quarter revenue to $11.42 billion to $11.50 billion, a band that points to a stronger finish if demand holds up. It said combined Agentforce and Data Cloud annual recurring revenue reached nearly $3.9 billion, up more than 210% year over year, while Agentforce alone surpassed $1.5 billion in ARR, up 240%.

The headline profit figure was less clean. Non-GAAP diluted EPS of $5.90 matched the LSEG consensus estimate, but GAAP net income of $3.53 billion, or $4.29 per diluted share, included a $2.6 billion investment gain tied in part to Salesforce’s Anthropic investment. That means the quarter’s reported profitability was helped by a mark-to-market boost, not just operating performance, even as the company pressed ahead with AI products and higher sales targets.

Salesforce and Anthropic also said Claude will become the default model in Slack, extending the tie-up beyond a single plugin. Salesforce and Slack have now delivered seven billion Agentic Work Units to date across Agentforce and Slack, and customers completed 3.2 billion Agentic Work Units in the second quarter, up 97% from the prior quarter. The numbers give investors a cleaner measure of adoption than a product launch alone, but they do not answer the biggest question hanging over the rally: how much of the new valuation support comes from core sales momentum, and how much comes from the Anthropic-related gain that flattered the bottom line. For now, traders seem willing to pay for both.
