Jon Bernthal's Jon Bernthal Streaming Hit Movie is now one of Prime Video's 10 biggest streaming hits worldwide, giving The Accountant 2 a new kind of momentum after its 2025 release. The sequel, directed by Gavin O'Connor, has turned a character-driven action follow-up into a global draw for Amazon's service.

That rise matters because Bernthal is not tucked into the margins here. He returns as Braxton, also called Brax, opposite Ben Affleck as Christian Wolff, and the sequel has drawn a far warmer response than the first film, which had a 53% Rotten Tomatoes score. The Accountant 2 sits at 75% with critics and 92% with audiences, a spread that helps explain why viewers kept it moving once it landed on Prime Video.

The franchise's growth was already being discussed before this streaming surge. In May, Bill Dubuque said Amazon definitely wants one, and Gavin O'Connor has said he is personally running from another puzzle movie, which we've done twice now. He has also suggested a third outing could bring Anna Kendrick back, a sign that the next step has been talked about even if the road ahead is still not set.

That uncertainty is the catch. The Accountant 3 is being described as in active development, but nothing has been officially confirmed, which leaves the film's future resting on the same thing that made this sequel matter in the first place: whether enough people keep showing up for Christian Wolff and Braxton in the Accountant world. For now, Prime Video has its answer in the numbers, and Bernthal has another 2026 talking point to go with a career year that keeps expanding beyond his earlier work in The Punisher and The MCU.
