The alert is drawing immediate attention because investigators believe the child may have crossed into Nevada and may have returned to the Las Vegas or Reno area. Leonardo is described as a white male, and his clothing is unknown.
The search is also focused on Rehanna Star De La Rosa, Leonardo’s mother, who is described as a white female, 5-foot-1 and 119 pounds. Her clothing is unknown as well, and officials say Leonardo may be with her or with her boyfriend, Donny Alichanh, though that has not been confirmed.
That uncertainty is what makes the alert especially urgent. Authorities have tied the search to a specific vehicle and two named adults, but they have not said whether the boy is with either one of them or even in the car described. For now, the public-safety warning stretches across state lines while investigators work from a narrow set of details: a missing toddler, a possible route into Nevada and a car that could still be moving.
