Apple’s macOS Tahoe 26.7 release candidate, seeded today, contains references to several unreleased products, including AirPods, giving a fresh look at what the company may be lining up for the rest of the year. The code also points to new iPhones, iPads, Macs and home devices, making this one of the clearest software clues yet about Apple’s next move.

That is why the release candidate is already drawing attention. The code does not name finished products in every case, but it does point to first devices expected to arrive this September, when Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Ultra. For buyers tracking Apple’s next wave of hardware, that makes the AirPods references more than a curiosity; they sit inside a broader fall launch window that could start soon.

Some of the codenames in the build have appeared in earlier software updates, but they now carry new feature flags. Others have not shown up in the code before at all. One reference, ATVRemote1,5, appears to point to a new Apple TV remote, which fits prior rumors that the next Apple TV could arrive with an updated control. The same code also mentions Writing Tools coming to China, along with temporary restrictions tied to safety alerts and content that will not be able to be edited with Apple Intelligence.

There is also a catch that keeps the clues from reading like a clean product roadmap. Multiple model numbers in the code do not match any existing Apple product, and they do not yet map neatly onto a known upcoming device. That leaves the AirPods reference suggestive rather than specific: it confirms work is happening somewhere in the lineup, but not which AirPods product, if any, is actually involved.

Apple often holds two fall events, and that pattern matters here. A second event in October or November could be where the MacBook Pro, iMac, iPad mini and home accessories show up, while the first wave lands this September. For now, the code offers a useful split screen: some devices look close, others look farther out, and the AirPods clue sits in the middle, close enough to matter and vague enough to keep the market guessing.
