Sporting Kansas City will host St. Louis at Sporting Park on Wednesday, August 19, at 7:00 PM CT, and the club is steering fans to get there early. The game brings the usual matchday rush, but it also comes with a traffic wrinkle near the stadium that could slow the trip in.
A portion of Village West Parkway near the I-70 / 110th St. exit is closed right now because of construction of the new Buc-ee's near Sporting Park, so the club’s push to arrive early is not just routine advice. Fans heading to the match will want to plan around that closure, especially if they are trying to make pregame time on the Sporting Plaza.
That timing matters because the night is built for more than the kickoff itself. Supporter Stand ticket holders and Season Ticket Members are being urged to spend time in the Budweiser Brew House for prematch specials, and fans are also being told to check out the activations on the Sporting Plaza before entering the building. The game is part of a gameday package that mixes soccer, shopping and entry rules into one short window before the first whistle.
The ticketing process has changed enough that late arrivals may feel it most. Sporting KC tickets are mobile-only and can be managed through SeatGeek Account Manager, screenshots will no longer be accepted and tickets will be scanned before fans go through security. Cash is also no longer accepted for transactions in the building, which makes the digital side of the night the only side that really works.
There is still some room for flexibility if fans need to carry gear, but the limits are tight. Clear bags measuring 12” x 12” x 6” or smaller may be permitted after a thorough inspection by stadium security staff, which makes the security line another reason not to cut the arrival too close. For anyone heading in for shopping, the SportingStyle store on the east side of the building at the top of section 131 is the only store location featuring Amazon Just Walk Out technology.
There is also a small contest built into the day’s sales push. Sporting KC is selling a BBQ-inspired Sporting KC tee this week, and a lucky grand prize winner in the Blue Hell Hunt will win four tickets to Ted Lasso Night on August 29. That gives the matchday guide a second date to circle, even as Wednesday’s game remains the main event.
For fans coming in from the road, the practical read is simple: the match starts at 7:00 PM CT, but the trip may take longer than usual. With a closed stretch near the I-70 / 110th St. exit and stadium gates that now depend on mobile tickets, early arrival is the safest way to keep the night focused on St. Louis Vs Sporting KC instead of the parking lot.
