Sarah J. Maas has ended months of speculation with two new Instagram posts that name, show, and date the next two books in A Court of Thorns and Roses. The first reveals ACOTAR 6 as A Court of Splintered Harmony, and the second introduces A Court of Forgotten Melody, giving readers the clearest sign yet of where the series is headed next.
The timing matters because fans had been watching Maas' social media closely this week after posts on her profile no longer appeared. On Monday afternoon, around 1 p.m. ET, she answered the chatter with cover art for both books and the kind of direct message readers had been waiting for: What was broken will be remade, she wrote with A Court of Splintered Harmony, and What was lost will be reclaimed accompanied the A Court of Forgotten Melody post.
The announcement also sets out the first firm schedule for the series since A Court of Silver Flames was published in 2021. According to an announcement on the author's official website, ACOTAR 6 is due on October 27, 2026, while ACOTAR 7 is set for January 12, 2027. For a fan base that has spent years parsing every change to Maas' profile picture, website artwork and social media presence, those dates turn speculation into a calendar.
Still, one question is unresolved. Fans believed some earlier Instagram posts had disappeared, but Instagram also lets users archive content, which removes it from public view without deleting it outright. That means the missing posts may not have been erased at all, only tucked away. Maas and her publisher have not offered official titles, cover art, plot synopses or point-of-view characters beyond the new images, leaving the next round of guessing to begin with a little more to go on.
What is no longer in doubt is that the next two ACOTAR books are real, titled and dated. For readers, the wait has shifted from wondering whether the series would continue to counting down to October 27, 2026, and then January 12, 2027.
