Elizabeth Waddell was reported missing in Grenada after she left her Airbnb for a swim near Grand Anse Beach and did not return. The 44-year-old was last seen around 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, in the Grand Anse Beach area of St. George’s.
For Cailen Waddell, the missing-person report turned a vacation into a search effort. He said he had been in Grenada with his daughter since Friday, and the family was waiting on any sign of the woman he described as loving, free-spirited and able to make friends with anyone.
Waddell had been staying at an Airbnb with another friend when she stepped out for a swim. Her friend later told family members she did not see her again, then found Waddell’s towel down on the pier after looking for her. That detail has become the clearest marker in the case: she was out by the water, and then she was gone.
The missing-person poster says the Royal Grenada Police Force is in contact with fishermen, boat operators and residents along the southern coastline. That widens the search beyond the beach itself and suggests police are treating the area as part of a broader sweep, even though no finding has been reported publicly.
Amanda Romano-Harmon, speaking on behalf of the family, said the friend on Wednesday called Cailen Waddell after realizing Liz had been gone for hours and did not have her phone with her. She said the report was filed right away. She also said the community in Grenada has been supportive and has been bringing food to Waddell and his daughter as they wait and look for answers.
Romano-Harmon described Elizabeth Waddell as someone who loved to travel, meet new people and try new things. She is the founder of Art of Movement Physical Therapy and, according to her website, holds a doctorate in physical therapy from UNC-Chapel Hill. What remains unanswered is the simplest and hardest question in the case: where she went after leaving the Airbnb for that swim.
