Turkish Airlines flight TK-710 declared an emergency and diverted to Baku after a technical problem developed while it was flying from Istanbul to Islamabad. The Airbus A330 was moved to Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku following precautionary steps taken by the crew.
The aircraft had left Istanbul as scheduled and was headed for Islamabad International Airport, where it had been due to arrive at 3:35 pm. While crossing Azerbaijani airspace, the plane temporarily lost GNSS signals, and the pilots coordinated with ATC before following guidance to land in Baku.
That rapid sequence mattered because the diversion unfolded in real time on an international route, forcing airport authorities to clear the aircraft and move passengers to the terminal. FlightRadar24 data showed the signal loss, but the cause of the technical problem was still not identified, leaving the most important question unanswered even after the safe landing.
Maintenance teams began inspecting the plane to find and fix the fault, but Turkish Airlines had not yet said when the aircraft would continue its journey. The next step is a technical investigation, and the answer it produces will determine whether this was a brief systems glitch or something that needs a broader review.
