The timing matters because he confirmed the trip on June 26, only to rethink it hours later, and the visit is tied to the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. That leaves a simple question hanging over the summer plans: whether the trip can still go ahead as intended.
The dispute centers on protection. RAVEC declined round-the-clock police protection for Prince Harry, and under the proposed arrangement taxpayer-funded cover would apply only at a royal residence. He appealed that decision, but the challenge was rejected in May 2025, keeping the security issue alive just as the July visit moved closer.
That is where the friction sits. A June 29 spokesperson statement said the family still planned to arrive on Tuesday, July 7, while options were being explored. So the trip is both on the calendar and under review, which means the family is still moving toward the date even as Prince Harry weighs whether the security setup is enough for him to travel.
