Prince William marked his 44th birthday and Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21, with a public nod to the children he has put at the center of his life. He shared a photo of himself with Princess Charlotte, a simple gesture that fit the family-first image that has come to define him.
The timing mattered because the birthday and Father’s Day fell on the same day, giving the image extra weight. It also arrived after William had appeared at Trooping the Colour and Royal Ascot alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla and Princess Kate, keeping him in the public eye even as the message of the photo pointed back home.
Jennie Bond said William has made a conscious and unabashed choice to put his children first whenever humanly possible, and she said his wife and children are bound to love him more for it. That, she said, is where he has drawn a distinct line between himself and King Charles. In Bond’s view, Charles was often an absent parent because his work diary was always crammed, while William and Catherine seem like equal partners, even though he could behave as if they were not because of his birth.
