Whitney Fransway’s move from Los Angeles to New York City is being treated as more than a zip code change. In a preview for the In The City series premiere, Lindsay Hubbard pressed Kenny Martin about the relationship, and the questions centered on one thing: Fransway crossed the country to be with him before there was a ring.
Hubbard did not soften the point. She said the move was “a big commitment” and added that, from a girl’s perspective, going across the country “before the ring” is a lot. Martin, who said the two have been together for less than a year, answered that their first date was around a year ago and that they “slow-played it for a while.”
The exchange matters because the show is not waiting to introduce the new cast dynamic. Hubbard said there are a lot of new people for viewers to get to know on In The City, and the premiere is set to air Tuesday, May 19 at 9/8c as a crossover event following the Summer House Season 10 finale. The preview places Fransway’s move at the center of that rollout, turning a personal decision into one of the season’s first talking points.
Martin tried to explain why the pace of the relationship did not match the scale of the move. He said his mother was passing and that he went through a very challenging time, adding that he may not have been the best version of himself during that period. He still described the relationship plainly, saying he and Fransway are “just kind of seeing where this goes” and that they love each other.
The preview also gave the couple a defense from one of their friends. Gavin Moseley said Fransway is “a doll” and that she brings the best out in Martin. He said the pair do not fight, while also joking that Martin had been “playing around—being a playboy.” Hubbard, meanwhile, kept the tone sharp. At one point she said she was getting “I hate men” vibes, then replied that she is “just allergic to annoying men.”
That back-and-forth is exactly what the network is leaning into with the new series. Amanda Batula teased that viewers should expect “drama, crying, fighting,” while Hubbard said, “We do have a little fun.” The preview suggests In The City will use the couple’s relationship as one of its clearest hooks, especially because Fransway is being introduced as a newcomer whose move signals real commitment, not just a cameo in someone else’s story.
For now, the main answer is already on the table: Fransway did move to New York to build a life with Martin, and the show wants viewers to notice that the decision came early, before any engagement. Whether that looks impulsive or serious will be the argument the premiere starts on Tuesday night.
