Tyreek Hill is still sitting in free agency with almost no buzz from NFL teams, and one general manager has already ruled his club out. The executive told Jason La Canfora that Hill is a no-go for his team, adding that if he can no longer stretch a defense, there is no clear reason to bring him in.
That is a sharp turn for a receiver who was once one of the league’s most dangerous playmakers. La Canfora described Hill’s market as tepid in February, and it has not warmed since. Hill is rehabbing a severe, multi-ligament knee injury he suffered in September, and any team considering him would have to be comfortable not only with his recovery but also with his off-field issues, his effect inside a locker room and whether he is willing to accept a reduced role.
The Chiefs are the only team specifically linked to Hill so far, and even that interest is qualified. Per ’s Nate Taylor, Kansas City is expected to monitor Hill’s recovery from his severe leg injuries. It remains uncertain whether he will be ready for the season opener, which only deepens the caution around a player whose game has always depended on speed.
Hill’s current uncertainty comes after a long and expensive run through Kansas City and Miami. The Chiefs took him in the fifth round in 2016, then signed him to a new three-year, $54 million extension in 2019 that included $35.2 million guaranteed. Kansas City traded him in the 2022 offseason, and Hill later landed a four-year, $120 million contract with the Dolphins that included $72.2 million in guaranteed money.
Miami eventually reworked that deal into a three-year, $90 million contract with $65 million in guarantees heading into the 2024 season. But by February 2026, the Dolphins released Hill while he was recovering from a significant leg injury, leaving a player who once looked untouchable now waiting for a market that has barely materialized.
His recent production did little to change that picture. In 2025, Hill appeared in four games for Miami and caught 21 passes for 265 yards and one touchdown. For a receiver whose value was built on the threat of game-breaking speed, the question now is not whether teams know his name. It is whether any of them still believe his legs and his role can justify the risk.
