Courtney Harris was arrested Nov. 5 in an insurance fraud case tied to Enterprise Rent-A-Car, after SLED charged her with allegedly presenting a false claim for insurance payment of $10,000 or more. She was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center as investigators said the claim at issue was worth $223,176.77.
The arrest matters because it adds a second charged person to the case and pushes the investigation further into the mechanics of how the claim was built. In the warrant, Harris is accused of knowingly making false statements between October 19, 2025, and March 3, 2026, including telling police and Enterprise Rent-A-Car Rental Claims Services that she did not know the alleged victim.
That denial sits at the center of the dispute. Harris was implicated as a co-conspirator in a case involving Shante Bethel, who was charged in October 2026 with forgery of $10,000 or more and related charges after allegedly sending a forged medical bill purportedly from MUSC Health Columbia. The false claim in Bethel’s case was also sent to Enterprise Rent-A-Car Rental Claims Services, linking the two matters through the same payment channel and the same alleged fraud scheme.
What the filings do not settle is the relationship between Harris and the alleged victim, beyond what investigators say she told them. Neither Harris nor Bethel has been tried in court, and the case now turns on whether prosecutors can prove the false statements, the forged paperwork and the alleged coordination behind a claim that reached six figures.
