Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd said they are no longer in a relationship, revealing on the latest episode of Fudd's podcast that they had split more than a year ago. Bueckers appeared as a guest on the show and spoke publicly about how the two have handled the change while continuing to work as teammates.
The announcement lands now because the two are still linked by basketball as much as by their past relationship. Bueckers and Fudd played together for four seasons at Connecticut from 2021 to 2025, and they went public with their relationship in 2025 when Bueckers appeared on WAG Talk on TikTok. Their breakup had already happened before Fudd was selected No. 1 in the 2026 WNBA draft, but the news was only shared publicly this week.
Bueckers also used the discussion to explain how little their off-court lives changed the work they did together. She said they had always been the utmost professional, that nothing off the court had carried onto it, and that they would keep showing up as teammates, leaders and hard workers for the Dallas Wings. Her point was simple: the relationship may be over, but the professional bond has stayed intact.
That is the part that gives the story its weight. After Fudd was drafted by the Wings in April, Bueckers said they were not new to this and had “countless reps” at managing the balance between personal and professional life. She said they would continue to help the Dallas Wings win games, and the setting makes the contrast sharper: the same pair who once went public as a couple have now spent a season trying to keep the focus on basketball.
The timing also folds into a season in which the Wings won a franchise-record 27 games and made the playoffs for the first time in three years, before losing in the first round to the eventual-champion Golden State Valkyries. Bueckers made the All-Star team for the second consecutive year, while Fudd ranked fourth among all rookies with 13.1 points per game and shot 39.7 percent from three. Their breakup is now public, but the next chapter is already underway: they will keep playing on the same team, with no details offered about what led to the split.
