Switch 2 Zelda Edition restocks hit Target and Best Buy this week

The Switch 2 Zelda Edition is back on the market in tiny bursts, but only for shoppers fast enough to catch a restock before it disappears. Target and Best Buy are lining up limited drops this week, while other major retailers remain sold out or are only letting customers sign up for alerts.

That timing matters because the rush is tied to Thursday, Nov. 5, when The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 arrives. The custom console, which first dropped on Oct. 29, has been moving even faster than usual because stock is vanishing in seconds, and shoppers are trying to lock one down before the game launch turns into a bigger scramble.

The shortage is not coming from one store alone. Nintendo Store is out of stock and only offering a wishlist notification option. Amazon is releasing tiny batches at random through the day. Walmart is sold out and telling shoppers to turn on in-stock email alerts, while GameStop has shut off online orders and is pushing customers toward stores instead. The result is a hunt spread across several retailers, each using a different gate to keep demand from overwhelming the release.

What is making the console especially hard to find is the way the launch has been staged. The hardware arrived first, but the game driving the demand is still days away. That leaves buyers chasing a $520 package that includes the themed Joy-Con 2 controllers, a matching dock with the gold Triforce emblem, 256GB of storage and support for microSD Express cards, but not the game that has people searching for it. For some shoppers, that is enough to keep refreshing listings all day; for others, it is a reminder that the edition is limited before it is even complete.

Target is the next major stop, with in-store drops set for Thursday, Nov. 5 and online drops on Friday, Nov. 6. Best Buy is planning select-store midnight openings on Nov. 5 with walk-in stock, and Walmart’s usual habit of locking headline console drops behind Walmart+ subscriptions for the first 30 to 60 minutes could make its next move just as frustrating. The console hunt is likely to stay jagged, with stock appearing in short windows and disappearing before most buyers even reach checkout.

That is why the question for shoppers is not whether the Switch 2 Zelda Edition is available somewhere. It is whether they can catch one of the next few windows before the listings go dark again.
