Katseye canceled its sold-out Detroit concert 30 minutes before the scheduled 8 p.m. start on Tuesday night, after venue screens at Little Caesars Arena said the show had been postponed because of illness. Fans who were already inside the arena had little warning before the message appeared.

The group later said Megan Skiendiel was unwell and unable to perform, and apologized on Instagram for the disruption. Katseye also said it understood that many fans had traveled, made plans and were already waiting for the show to begin.

That timing is what angered many in the crowd. Jessica Lenhardt drove five and a half hours from Skokie, Illinois, to get there and said she spent around $5,000 on VIP tickets, travel and outfits for her daughters. She said the late notice kept hopes up until just a few minutes before showtime, and argued that if the problem had started earlier in the day, fans should have been told sooner.

Lenhardt was not the only one left frustrated. Megan Schikora said many children in Little Caesars Arena burst into tears after the cancellation was announced, and said the arena was already full when the notice came. She questioned why the show was pulled so close to start time, saying it seemed hard to believe the issue had only become clear at 7:30 p.m.

Katseye is a six-member group formed in Los Angeles in 2024 on Netflix's Popstar Academy: Katseye, and the Detroit stop came amid lineup changes that have already affected the act. Avanzini, Raj and Jeung had taken part in a VIP meet-and-greet and performed two songs during a pre-show soundcheck before the cancellation, while Bannerman and Laforteza have been on hiatus for the past few months.

The show will be rescheduled, but no new date was given. For the fans who had already paid, traveled and waited inside the arena, the unanswered question is not whether the concert was postponed, but when they will get the chance to see it at all.
