NBC has added Jane Krakowski and Scott Adsit to the season two cast of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, bringing two more familiar faces into a series already leaning hard into its 30 Rock connection. Krakowski will play Angela Broyer, northern New Jersey’s interior decorator to the stars, while Adsit will play Ed Sommers, the local man who always gets the Santa spot at the neighborhood Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
That cast news arrives with the date viewers are waiting for: season two begins on Nov. 2. For people searching The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins now, the draw is not just the new names but the way the show is building around Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe with a cluster of guest players that includes Jason Mantzoukas, Edi Patterson and André De Shields.
Krakowski’s character comes with a personal hook that pushes the story back into Reggie’s past. Angela Broyer went to high school with Reggie and knew him when he was dating Monica, which gives the new season another way to test how far he has moved from the life he used to live. Adsit’s Ed Sommers adds a different kind of rivalry: Rusty covets the Santa role Ed keeps taking, and that small-town fight fits the show’s habit of turning status, memory and embarrassment into the joke.
The broader cast list suggests the series is expanding without losing its original shape. Patterson will play Lisa, the head of the HOA; Mantzoukas will play Peter Za, a Zen-like music producer working on a video with Brina; and De Shields will play Vernon Bellow, a respected documentary filmmaker and mentor to Arthur. Jalyn Hall also stars, while Craig Robinson, Heidi Gardner, Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Chloe Troast, Mike Carlsen and Arica Himmel are back from season one. Boris Kodjoe, Jeremy Culhane and NBC sportscaster Mike Tirico are also set to guest star.
What is not being spelled out matters almost as much as what is. The network has described the project as a 30 Rock reunion, and the show has that presence both in front of and behind the camera, but it has not said whether Krakowski and Adsit are in one-off roles or returning across multiple episodes. That leaves the next answer to the premiere itself: when Nov. 2 arrives, viewers will find out whether these additions are splashy drop-ins or part of a larger season-two run.
