Byron Reyes said on Sunday that El Komanche died in Monterrey, Nuevo León, on October 25 after he had already spoken with the creator’s family. He said the report was being treated as confirmed.

Reyes made the disclosure in a message that spread quickly online because Komanche was known as a creator of video game content on Twitch and Kick. The post landed on the same day the death was reported, giving fans and collaborators the first direct account from someone close to him.

In his message, Reyes said he was still not ready to say goodbye. He tied that to a photo from 2018 or 2019, when Komanche had about 4,000 followers and had come from San Sebastián, San Vicente in El Salvador for a Comiccon invitation. Reyes said they met then, and he said Komanche had always wanted to be an ambassador for his country.

He also said he and Komanche had two projects together that would not be completed. That is the hardest part of the loss in his account: even as he said he had spoken with the family and described the report as confirmed, he was still writing from disbelief. He said bullying is not a game and promised to keep paying tribute to Komanche and what he inspired.

The unanswered question now is the one Reyes did not address: what caused Komanche’s death in Monterrey. A linked report has said he was found there, but no further details are part of the account Reyes shared, and no official explanation was included in his message.
