Matthew Lamb is mourning his mother, Meredith, after sharing on Instagram on Monday, Oct. 19, that she died on Saturday, Oct. 17. In the tribute, the 14-year-old actor wrote that she was everything to him and said the loss still does not feel real.
Lamb said Meredith taught him school, taught him empathy and did everything for their family. He said she always had the biggest smile and gave the best hugs, and added that he is not sure the loss ever will feel real, even after posting about it publicly.
The post landed at a moment when Lamb, who has played Elliot on the ABC series High Potential since 2024, is being seen mostly not as a young actor but as a son in grief. He said he is grateful for the things Meredith was able to experience, and in a separate message on Instagram Stories, thanked people for the support he and his family have received.
The Broadway Artists Alliance also remembered Meredith on Monday, saying she served as its parent liaison and transformed its community in immeasurable ways over the last six years. The group said she was the biggest champion for every student, staff member and parent, and that it is working with her family to honor her extraordinary legacy.
That tribute also points to what comes next. The Broadway Artists Alliance said it plans scholarships in Meredith's name to help young artists pursue their dreams, turning grief into a concrete memorial that extends beyond one family and into the community she supported. For Lamb, the public statement captured the part of loss that can be hardest to name: he has told the world what happened, but the absence still has not settled in for him.
