Rockstar Games Leaving Ps Plus as GTA 5, Red Dead 2 Set for Removal

GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are set to leave PlayStation Plus on November 17, cutting two of Rockstar Games’ biggest titles from the catalog just as the wait for GTA 6 reaches its final stretch. For PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, the clock is already ticking.

The date matters because the removals land two days before GTA 6 is scheduled to launch. Anyone who has been using PlayStation Plus to play either game will lose access when they leave the service unless they buy them outright, turning a subscription benefit into a deadline.

Cade Onder, who covers gaming, film and more, reported the removals as part of a broader update to the service’s catalog. Sony recently added Mafia: The Old Country and Horizon Forbidden West, while The Talos Principle 2 is also on the way out, showing how quickly the lineup can shift even as it remains a selling point for PS Plus.

That is the friction in the story: Sony has not said why these two Rockstar Games titles are being pulled now, and the timing is what makes the move stand out. PlayStation Plus works as Sony’s Game Pass-like catalog of titles, so the removals do not touch games players already own, only the ones they have been streaming or downloading through the service.

For subscribers, the next fixed point is simple. Before November 17, both games remain available through PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium. On that date, they are removed, and after that they become unplayable unless purchased. The unanswered question is whether the close proximity to GTA 6 is just a coincidence or a quiet signal about how Sony and Rockstar Games want the moment to land.
