Polymarket traders cut the chance that María Corina Machado will enter Venezuela by Dec. 31 to 36%, down from 46% earlier on Saturday. The move came with $6.6 million traded on the market, which has three live deadlines: Oct. 15, Oct. 31 and Dec. 31.

The drop puts a price on a question Machado herself keeps pressing. Speaking in Panama City, she said she is doing everything she can to return as soon as possible, but she gave no date for a trip back and said the government of acting president Delcy Rodríguez fears her return. The market is not betting on a speech or a slogan. It is betting on whether she will set foot in Venezuela again before year-end.

That question has followed Machado since she left Venezuela in December 2025 and later based herself in Panama. In May, she said she would return before the end of 2026 and run for president. Her team says she has tried at least seven times to get back by air and by sea and was blocked each time, a record that helps explain why traders have moved the odds away from a near-term return.

The sharpest friction is that the public timeline and the private one do not match. On Oct. 6, a coordinator of her party, Vente Venezuela, said she could be back in the coming hours, while her closest aides told El Debate that no return was imminent. The same dispute has stretched across the border question itself, with The Maltese Herald, citing The, reporting that the Trump administration did not back one attempt through Curaçao and Secretary of State Marco Rubio denying that Washington had blocked her.

For now, the market has the first deadline in sight and the biggest uncertainty still intact. Her party has called protests in cities abroad for Oct. 17 to demand an election date, but the next test for the Polymarket bet is simpler: whether Machado can make it back into Venezuela before Dec. 31.
