María Claudia Tarazona said she turned over names, photographs and conversations to the Fiscalía and went further: she said the order to kill Miguel Uribe Turbay came from the Congress of the Republic. Her accusation lands while the inquiry into the killing of Miguel Uribe Turbay is still active and already has seven convictions.

That is why the name Uribe is drawing fresh attention now. Tarazona said she was not speaking in the abstract. She said she had received warning messages before the attack about a possible plan against Miguel Uribe and other politicians of the Centro Democrático, and one of those messages said, “la plata salió de Venezuela y la orden salió del Congreso”. She also said the material she formally delivered to the Fiscalía included names, photographs and conversations, placing the burden on investigators to test what can be proved and what cannot.

Tarazona’s statement matters because it tries to push the case beyond the people already convicted and toward a possible line involving a parliamentarian. She said a member of Comunes would supposedly be linked to that hypothesis, but she also said the authorities must verify the information. In other words, she made a direct allegation and then asked the state to prove it or disprove it.

The timing is also shaped by what investigators already had in hand. Documents and expert reports in two case files indicate that the Fiscalía received information six weeks after the June 7, 2025 attack about a possible leak from the senator’s security team. The records also point to two separate cellphone coincidences that investigators still have to explain: on January 29, 2025, the phones of two members of the security scheme were in Modelia while Uribe Turbay was in Panamá and Tarazona was in Miami; then at the beginning of April, the same two phones again appeared near the same device of a convicted person in the surroundings of the Congreso while Uribe Turbay and his wife were outside Bogotá. That pattern could indicate a meeting, but the facts still need to be clarified.

Hernán Cadavid called the allegation serious and urged a thorough investigation. Honorio Henríquez asked fiscal general Luz Adriana Camargo to look into it. Uribe also told Noticias Caracol that he was deeply concerned about Tarazona’s denunciation and asked for support and protection for María Claudia. Tarazona said she is waiting for the Fiscalía to open that line of investigation. The case now turns on whether investigators treat her claim as a credible new lead or another allegation that must be tested against the paper trail already inside the file.
