Today’s weather across the Northland turns windy, with northwest gusts reaching as high as 30 MPH while most places stay dry and stay on the mild side for early fall. Highs will be mainly in the 60s, with a few low 70s possible to the south, and the day will start mostly sunny before afternoon cumulus clouds build in.

That mix is what makes the forecast worth watching now: people in the Northland will feel a sharper breeze during the warmest part of the day, even as the air stays dry for most of the region. A few isolated showers cannot be ruled out north of US-2 today, and a few more showers are possible across the Arrowhead, but those spots should be limited rather than widespread.

The setup points to a narrow band of unsettled weather rather than a broad washout. Conditions that stay dry for most of the Northland can still produce a quick shower in the area north of US-2, which is why the forecast keeps that chance in play without expanding it much farther. The wind is the more noticeable part of the day, especially where open stretches and higher ground can make breezy northwest flow feel stronger.

Tonight brings a quick easing of the breeze, with winds slacking off a tad as lows fall into the 40s and a few typical cool spots dipping into the upper 30s. Tomorrow stays partly cloudy with highs in the 50s and 60s and lighter northwest winds at 5-10 MPH, then Friday turns partly cloudy before becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon as southeast winds increase to 12-17 MPH and highs hold mainly in the 60s. The bigger picture is a gradual cooldown with dry weather lasting through the end of the work week.
