Will Traval has joined the cast of ABC’s General Hospital, and his character, Jude, is set to arrive in Port Charles in October. The new role adds another face to the daytime drama’s lineup, but the show has said little else about who Jude is or why he is coming.
The timing is what gives the casting news its edge. Blythe Howard is also set to appear on September 23 as Monet, a new lawyer who has recently joined Miller & Davis, and that appearance lands just before Traval’s character enters the story next month.
Deadline first confirmed Traval’s casting, and the actor brings a familiar television résumé with him. He was a series regular on Messiah, Jessica Jones and Red Widow, and later recurred on Dynasty while also taking on notable arcs on Arrow, Chicago P.D., Grimm and Once Upon a Time.
For General Hospital, the immediate value is simple: a new stranger is coming into Port Charles, and the show is keeping the rest closed. No other details about Jude have been revealed, which leaves the character’s connection to the town, or to anyone already in it, deliberately out of view for now.
That restraint is part of the draw. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams on Hulu, and the October arrival gives the writers room to build anticipation around a character whose purpose is still being held back. Traval’s past work suggests a role built to matter, but the only fact that counts today is that Jude is coming, and the show is not yet saying why.
