The Traitors has announced its next celebrity cast, and Casey Wilson is on the list. The new season is expected in February, putting the Happy Endings and SNL alum in a game where trust is the whole point and betrayal is the job.
Wilson is the kind of casting that gives the show a little more snap. She hosts the Real Housewives podcast Bitch Sesh and started Casey and Danielle's Garbage World, so she already lives in the orbit of unscripted TV, but this is different: on The Traitors, she will not just watch the women from a distance or keep herself from flying too close to the sun. She will have to step into the room with them, read them and decide who is telling the truth.
The celebrity lineup is broad enough to cover several corners of TV and pop culture. It includes Bronwyn Newport from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Cynthia Bailey from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cody Simpson, Dominic Monaghan from The Lord of The Rings and Lost, Gizelle Bryant from The Real Housewives of Potomac, Michele Fitzgerald from Survivor and The Challenge, Taylor Hale from Big Brother and Amazing Race, Whitney Leavitt from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Bianca Del Rio from RuPaul's Drag Race and Q Burdette from Survivor 46. Alan Cumming is back as host, and the show is part of a format that now sends out two seasons every year.
That schedule is the real shift. New Blood recently had its two-episode premiere on NBC, and the franchise is moving fast enough that this celebrity cast will not stay theoretical for long. The only question that matters now is which players get picked as Traitors when February arrives, because that decision will shape everything else the audience sees.
