Apple said pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max begin Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. PT, opening the first buying window for its newest flagship phones through apple.com and the Apple Store app.

For customers who want the new models early, the timing is the point. Apple is putting the iPhone 18 Pro Duo on sale before in-store availability, and the company is pairing that launch with trade-in credit, leasing, financing and carrier deals that can change the real price for different buyers.

Apple says the two phones bring upgrades across camera, performance, battery and intelligence. The new 48MP Fusion Main camera adds variable aperture for more creative control, while new Pro controls are meant to make the Camera app faster to use for the settings people reach for most. Both models run on A20 Pro and use a next-generation vapor chamber for what Apple calls its highest sustained performance yet.

The company is also leaning harder into AI than it has on earlier Pro models. Apple says iPhone 18 Pro models come with iOS 27 and the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, with personal context, privacy and security built into the experience. That is a bigger promise than a simple hardware refresh, but Apple did not spell out how much of that intelligence is new in day-to-day use versus what owners already get on earlier phones.

Battery life is another part of the pitch. Apple says updated battery designs use silicon efficiencies to deliver battery life, a claim that matters because the premium phone market has become less about raw speed and more about whether the device can handle heavier camera use, more on-device processing and a full day away from a charger.

Apple Trade In may be the cleanest path for some buyers. The company said customers trading in an iPhone 13 or higher can get $175 to $885 in instant credit, which means the best value goes to owners of newer phones with higher trade-in worth. Apple Upgrade also adds 12- and 24-month leasing options for iPhone and Apple Watch, while Mac Studio gets 24- and 36-month options, giving buyers a way to spread out the cost if they do not want to pay upfront.

The new phones are part of a wider Apple rollout that also includes Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5, Mac mini and Mac Studio. Apple said Apple Watch and AirPods 5 will be available in stores and online worldwide beginning Friday, September 18, while Mac mini and Mac Studio will be available in stores on Tuesday, September 22. For the iPhone 18 Pro Duo, though, Saturday morning is the first test: how quickly the first wave of buyers moves, and how many choose trade-in or leasing over paying straight through.
