Ana Navarro used The View's 30th anniversary season debut on Sept. 8 to put a date and a drug name on the weight-loss chatter that has followed her for months. Looking back at a throwback clip from 2022, she said, “Those were all pre-Mounjaro,” then joked, “We've lost the equivalent of a baby hippo on that stage.”
The comment landed because Navarro has been part of The View since 2013, and her weight loss has become a recurring topic in the same public way the show has handled other hosts' own stories about medication. Whoopi Goldberg said in March that taking the Mounjaro injection helped her shed weight after cresting 300 pounds in 2021, while Joy Behar said in February that a weight-loss drug helped her drop 25 pounds.
Navarro's remark also sharpened the timeline around her own change. She had already been telling viewers that diet and lifestyle shifts were doing a lot of the work. In 2023, after a summer vacation in Greece, she wrote that there was “something to be said for the Mediterranean diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and grilled meats,” added, “I haven't seen a pancake in a month,” and said the diet there had “much less processed sugar and preservatives.” She also responded to Ozempic speculation after posting memories from a trip to Colombia.
Later, Navarro gave a more detailed explanation of what had changed. She said, “Last August, I went to a wellness spa in Mexico called @rancholapuerta with two of my friends since grade school.” She added, “We had all turned 50 and wanted to be healthier,” and said, “So it's been a complete lifestyle change—except for the damn rosé and margaritas, which I can't give up.” At the time, she said, “It has all helped me lose about 4-5 lbs a month.”
That is the friction in the story: Navarro now links the visible shift to Mounjaro, but she also described her eating habits and broader routine as a continuing part of the weight loss, not a replacement for it. In other words, the medication may explain the label, but it does not erase the fact that she had already been talking publicly about healthier eating, fewer processed foods and a changed routine before and after the clip she called “pre-Mounjaro.”
For now, the Sept. 8 appearance is the clearest public marker of how Navarro is framing the change. It also keeps The View in the middle of a broader on-air conversation about GLP-1 drugs, with one longtime guest host calling her earlier self “pre-Mounjaro” and leaving the size of the total change unstated.
